Changing the CRM game for Fundraisers

Published

This isn't me, but I am super excited to be learning from fundraisers!Fundraisers are a diverse group of individuals who have one thing in common: their passion for their mission. Recently, I've been spending a lot of time talking to fundraisers and our conversations have been enlightening.

Our conversations generally go something like this:
Q:     Where do you spend most of your time?
A:     On the road or on the phone with prospects and donors

Q:     What are your typical activities?
A:     Call donors and prospects, plan for meetings, document conversations

Q:     Do you use CRM today?
     A:     Yes, but...

Several factors play into that loaded response, including:
     * Fundraisers are out of the office more than they are in the office
     * Fundraisers are much more comfortable in Outlook than they are in their CRM
     * CRM has a learning curve

Thanks to these conversations, we've learned a lot. So what are we doing with what we've learned?

We are changing the CRM game for fundraisers.

1. We are making data more accessible within CRM.

     * In Service Pack 2, we delivered an Opportunity tile on the Constituent Record
     * In Service Pack 3, we are delivering a Prospect tile on the Constituent Record
     * In Service Pack 3, we converted the Pending Activity datalist to a listbuilder

2. We are providing more capabilities
     * In version 5.0, you will be able to link event registrations, planned gifts and matching gifts to revenue opportunities

3. We are going mobile with a Fundraiser on the Go app
     * Fundraiser on the Go is focused on the fundraiser in the field.
     * The app helps fundraisers plan for trips, prep for meetings, capture interactions, and plan for the next interaction.
     * Currently, we are on track for a 2016 release. Please make sure you sign up for discovery.

We are excited about these changes and the impact they will have on your fundraising. Afterall, when fundraisers are happy, everyone is happy!
