The New Year has come and gone, and here at Blackbaud, we've been reflecting on End of Year email fundraising. December has always been a big month for fundraising, but the importance of email fundraising as a critical component of your campaigns has never been higher.

On Giving Tuesday 2015, Blackbaud customers across 6 of our products that send email sent over 130 million emails to constitutes and had a record  number of gifts!  BBIS customers, paired with Blackbaud NetCommunity and Online Express customers who share our stats, sent over 24 million emails which was a significant increase from 2014. With numbers like these, there is an increased focus on email throughout all of Blackbaud's products.

One of the most important aspects of email is one that you, the customer, never sees. After you create a fantastic email and hit send in our email programs--no matter whether you're hitting send in BBIS, or Luminate Online, your online program sends your email to an email service which actually performs the action of sending the email out.

Over the course of 2014 and 2015, Blackbaud invested heavily in improvements to this email service to make sure that on high volume days - like Giving Tuesday and New Years Eve, your emails are going out quickly and  efficiently. Behind the scenes, we've completed server expansions and overall email processing enhancements. We've stabilized, optimized and upgraded the overall email platform to fully empower you for end of year success.  With all of these new enhancements in place, we had a team "war room" in place on both Giving Tuesday and New Year's Eve to immediately tackle any issues that occurred. We are happy to report that this team had very little to do while they were assembled!

Analysis is being completed for New Years Eve and 2015 as a whole; look for more information coming out about EOY in February. In the meantime, check out these resources, including a NP Engage article from our very own CRM customer University of Michigan that illustrates how they made their Giving Tuesday a smashing success:
