Blackbaud Internet Solutions Custom Handler Changes In Service Pack 32

Published

In order to increase security around passwords we have made some changes in regards to the RecordNewUserHandler custom handler.

  • The RecordNewUserHandler custom handler will no longer accept password fields. New users will be created using RecordNewUserHandler without passwords.
  • The application can send a new user welcome email with a password reset link while creating the user via RecordNewUserHandler or not depending on the Organizations preference.
  1. New user signup emails will be sent based on the new parameter flag SkipNewUserWelcomeEmail.
  2. By default, its value will be false so that should you already be using this customer handler you do not need to make any changes and continue to send Signup emails along with new users.
  3. For those organizations who do not want to send welcome emails, you must update this parameter flag to true.
Users will have the ability to reset their password via the following methods when the SkipNewUserWelcomeEmail parameter flag value is set to true :
  1. By clicking Forgotten password link from login part/login.aspx page.
  2. By requesting the organization send the password reset email.
We are updating Page 12 of the Single Sign-on Overview Guide for information about the RecordNewUserHandler custom handler field table to include this information and including this information within in the New Feature Guide.
