Boost Monthly Giving with Our New Credit Card Updater Service

Published
Your organization works hard to secure donations through events, pledge drives, and other email and direct mail campaigns. And it works even harder to turn these one-time contributions into recurring gifts. So when sustainer payments are declined due to outdated credit card data, your nonprofit loses much-needed revenue. And, when you have to contact donors to request current card information, you also lose time and, in some cases, the recurring gifts.

To enhance your sustained giving programs—and ensure that you don’t have a disruption in monthly donations—Blackbaud now offers a premium credit card updater service to The Raiser’s Edge clients using Blackbaud Merchant Services. When your organization subscribes to this service, Visa, MasterCard, and Discover credit cards from participating US banks will be analyzed monthly to identify expired or out-of-date card data. And, when available, Credit Card Updater will provide new card numbers and expiration dates—without requiring you to contact your donors.

Using Credit Card Updater, you can:

  • Prevent declined transactions and disruptions in recurring gifts
  • Minimize the time spent contacting donors to update card information
  • Prevent donors from cancelling recurring gifts or having to contact you with new card data
  • Maintain only current credit card information

When credit cards are updated, you’ll receive an email notifcation. Once notified, you download the updated information in The Raiser’s Edge with the click of a button (the original payment details are still retained). You can also run reports that show exactly which cards were updated and when updates have occurred on an individual constituent’s record.

Establishing or enhancing your organization’s recurring giving program has never been easier.  Click here to read more about the Blackbaud Merchant Services Credit Card Updater service in The Raiser’s Edge. Or join our webinar on Thursday, 8/7/14.
