Updates For Connect Raiser's Edge Integration Coming Soon!

Connect Raiser's Edge is a plugin that enables users to automatically update and add information to Raiser's Edge from your "ON" products. Coming soon we are releasing some exciting new enhancements to this integration. Read on for details on the upgrade and how to prepare your data for changes in the integration.

Business relationship updates
Changes are occurring in how Business/College information downloads from your "ON" products into Raiser's Edge. Currently Connect Raiser's Edge creates a new address type in Raiser’s Edge for Business/College data from "ON". When a new Business/College address is added to an "ON" record and downloaded and processed via Connect Raiser's Edge a new business relationship is created in RE. The integration does not update the RE primary business relationship record.

The new release to Connect Raiser's Edge will include changes to how the Business/College data is handled. Connect Raiser’s Edge will now use the Business/College address data and Currently Employed (Yes) from "ON" to update the Primary business record in Raiser's Edge. In the "ON" database, you must use the Contact Card to indicate when constituents are currently employed (or self employed). The Currently Employed check box in the "ON" business relationship will be mapped to the Primary business information check box in Raiser's Edge. Any updates to the Business/College address in "ON" will appear on the primary business record of the matching constituent record in Raiser's Edge. Please consider the following scenarios that may impact your database:

If the "ON" database does not indicate that a constituent is currently employed, the integration maps as follows:

• For constituents - The Business/College Address from "ON" is added as a separate address (type: Business).
• For non-constituents - The Business/College Address from "ON" only appears in Raiser's Edge if Raiser's Edge is currently integrated with Education Edge.
• In both cases - The primary business flag is turned off. The business information still appears on the Relationship tab in Raiser's Edge. If Education Edge integrations with Raiser's Edge phone numbers may be lost.

For schools that previously mapped Business/College addresses from "ON" to a new type called "Business/College" in Raiser's Edge, the integration will no longer update the "Business/College" types in Raiser's Edge. Therefore, you may need to clean up some data prior to the upgrade. Note, at this time there is no change to the structure of the Business/College phone types. These phone types will continue to sync on the Bio1 tab of the Raiser's Edge record.

Be sure to update your templates and files for Data Refreshes to include information on Primary Business Address for any relevant constituents and spouses. If you suspect there are constituents with primary business addresses in Raiser's Edge, but not in your "ON" database, you'll need to add the addresses to your "ON" database and use the Currently Employed status. To update records in bulk, use a Data Refresh. 

If you have no address or employment in your "ON" database, the integration will remove the primary business indicator from Raiser's Edge. The business address will remain in Raiser's Edge as a relationship. If you also integrate Raiser’s Edge with Education Edge, phone contact information may be lost when the business is no longer marked as primary.
