Managing Actions & Action Tracks In Raiser's Edge
Published
I know we all hate entering our actions into Raiser's Edge, but it's a necessary evil. Actions are used to measure the progress of big lofty things like capital campaigns, days in status, and staff/fundraiser effectiveness. IÂ get a lot of Raiser's Edge users looking for some best practices on managing actions in the database.
Here are some tips. If they seem elementary to you, that's a good sign that your organization is doing a good job!
Here are some tips. If they seem elementary to you, that's a good sign that your organization is doing a good job!
- Policies and procedures for tracking actions seems to change with leadership. This makes action status, type, and even attributes messy over time. Take the time to clean everything up, and this will make it easier for your current staff to follow the rules!
- Link actions to proposals (opportunities in Raiser's Edge NXT). This allows you to use some pretty cool reporting and dashboards.
- Action tracks are great, and they can help automate the triggering and creation of future action. Remember they only exist in Raiser's Edge 7 (ie. the database view for Raiser's Edge NXT). Raiser's Edge NXT web view is more reliant on tags.
