Taking Lists With You Offline 101

Taking Lists With You Offline

Published

With Raiser's Edge NXT, you can take your constituent portfolio with you anywhere, on your smartphone or tablet. However, there may be times when you need that information on good ol'-fashioned paper or as a saved local file, such as when you travel offline with your phone in Airplane Mode or through a dead zone with poor or no reception. Luckily, with the power of your browser and a little forethought, you can easily take a list — such as from Work Center or a constituent's record — on the road with you in your pocket (maybe just folded in a little square rather than on your mobile device!).

To export a list to a printer or PDF, just select Print from your browser's menu — except for in Google Chrome, unfortunately — and send it to a printer or PDF writer. For readability and to fit all the columns, we recommend you print or save a list in a landscape layout.

To export a list to a spreadsheet, simply copy-and-paste it all directly from Raiser's Edge NXT to Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets. You may need to adjust the columns and clean up any excess content, but it's a quick way to play with and analyze your data and computations (at least until you can do all that directly in Raiser's Edge NXT!).

For more information about how to work with lists (and records in them), check out the Work Center and Lists Help.

Additionally, should you choose to "save in database view as static query" you will lose all formatting and output fields.  It should be much easier to print what's on the screen.
This is, at best, a poor substitute for a Constituent Profile Report. Why can we not access the wealth of prepared reports available in database view from the NXT view?
