Life Happens—Track It In Raiser’s Edge NXT!

Published
Last month, we talked about tiny houses and their correlation with Raiser’s Edge NXT development. This month, we’ll build on that idea and reveal another area that bridges the gap between the Web View and Database View—constituent records and contact information updates.

My grandparents lived in the same house for the majority of their lives. My grandfather married his teenage sweetheart and stayed married to her for the rest of his life; he also worked for the same company his entire career. Times have changed, of course. Today, marriages end, people switch jobs, and folks move when it suits their needs. Email addresses and phone numbers seem to change with the wind. You work hard to build relationships with constituents and don’t want to erroneously send a mailing to the wrong house or with the wrong spouse’s name. So, how can you keep track of your constituents’ life changes, contact information, and ensure you stay in touch?

Luckily, Raiser’s Edge NXT can help. So, if you’re chatting with someone over coffee and learn they have a new email address, or if you’re reading the Sunday paper and see a marriage announcement for one of your donors, you can update their information from wherever you are. With Database View, you can change and add constituent email addresses, phone numbers, mailing addresses, and relationships, on-the-fly.

But what if you don’t have access to the Database View? No problem. You can instead use the Web View to add an action for the donor. In Web View, use the Assign to field on the donor action record, and assign the action to the coworker who handles constituent updates. Your coworker will be notified of the change request, the change will be noted in the system, and you can focus on continuing to build that relationship with your prospect.
