What's New The Week Of August 8: Automatic 'Has No Valid Address'

Published
c50a580ce65238869281f617de28e16a-huge-reIn the database view, you can select Has no valid address on the Bio 1 or Org 1 tab of a constituent's record, such as to track who to exclude from mailings and reports. In the web view, when you update a constituent's contact information so all their addresses are invalid, Raiser's Edge NXT now automatically selects Has no valid address in the database view.

An address is invalid when it:
  • Includes only an address type and country
  • Is past the date range of when it was valid
  • Is marked as Do not mail
For more information, see the Addresses Help.

Hi Adelle Mantle‍,   I want your comment to get more eyes on it.  I suggest you post your question with a link to this blog in the RENXT product community.  Since this blog is from 2017 it is probably not bookmarked by many to check for the comments.

If a constituent is marked as "has no valid address" in database view, but there is a full address. How does web view indicate that this individual doesn't have a valid address? When fundraisers are updating addresses in web view, I now have no idea if this address is valid or not, because they don't see that box in web view to uncheck it.

This is a HUGE data entry issue. What protocol do you recommend we follow so that fundraisers updating addresses in web view are updating it so that it comes through clearly in database view??
Hi Jen – Great questions! Yes, when you update a record that’s marked Has no valid address to include one that’s valid, the database view removes the selection. Also, this change only applies to updates you make to addresses in the web view. Let us know if you have any other questions.

Does NXT also do the reverse?  If a new, valid address is added to the Constituent Record, or if an existing Address Record is edited so that the record no longer fits the criteria, will NXT uncheck the NVA box?  And will this only be the case when editing an Address in NXT, or also when editing in 7?  (I.e. if I have NXT, but am editing an Address in 7, when I save the record, will NXT find that record and update the NVA box?)
