To create lists ideal for annual giving officers (AGOs) as they work with donor retention and recapture efforts, use these recipes, with filters as the main ingredients. Don't hesitate to throw in additional filters — a pinch or a pound — to add your own flavor!

At-risk donors. To identify donors who haven't given a gift or received a soft credit in 12-15 months, apply these filters:
  • Constituent basics — Under Tagged with, select Any of these tags, and then Select constituent tags, At risk donor, and Select.
  • To narrow the focus further, choose additional filters like Constituent codes or Giving.
With this list, you can identify who to reach out to with a friendly interaction to reconnect. For more information, see the Donor Attrition Help.

LYBUNT donors who last gave $1,000 or more. To help identify good candidates for retention efforts, create a list of at-risk or lapsing donors who gave a large gift "last year, but unfortunately not this" year (LYBUNT).
  • For a list of donors who gave last year but not yet this year, select Retention in Fundraising, Analyze, and then select the LYBUNT donors total under Year to date retention.
  • To include only donors who last gave a large gift, select Filters, Giving, and then select Latest gift, Greater than or equal to, enter the minimum 'large' gift amount (like $1,000), and select Apply filters.
  • To save this list for future reference, select Create list and then Save, As a new list.
Remember, LYBUNT donors may still consider their giving as recent and may not truly be at risk. Carefully craft messaging with these donors to not offend loyal supporters. For more information, see the Donor Attrition Help.

Recapturable donors who last gave $1,000 or more. To help identify good candidates for recapture efforts, create a list of lapsed donors who gave a large gift two to five fiscal years ago, but not during the current or previous year, similar to "some year, but unfortunately not this" year (SYBUNT) donors:
  • For a list of donors who gave two-to-five years ago but not the current or previous year, select Recapture in Fundraising, Analyze, and then select the Recapturable donors total under Year to date recapture.
  • To include only donors who last gave a large gift, select Filters, Giving, and then select Latest gift, Greater than or equal to, enter the minimum 'large' gift amount (like $1,000), and select Apply filters.
  • To save this list for future reference, select Create list and then Save, As a new list.
When a recapturable donor last gave can help determine how to approach them. For more information, see the Donor Attrition Help.
