What's New In Raiser's Edge NXT: Enhanced Revenue Type Configuration, Including Recognition!

7f33a1ebb607e0dfb715f3aa4751fd0d-huge-coTo help analyze your donors' overall value, Raiser's Edge NXT now provides the ability for your organization to choose which types of gifts and soft credit it considers recognition giving.

  • On a constituent record or list, the Lifetime giving, First gift, Latest gift, and Greatest gift totals now include the gift types your organization sets up as recognition. For more information, see the Constituent Giving Help.
  • For those with Insight Designer, you can use the Gift recognition amount measure to analyze giving based on the gift types your organization sets up as recognition. For more information, see the Giving Measures Help.
Admins! To best meet the needs of your organization, in Control Panel, Settings, choose which gift types to include as recognition giving. You can now also choose additional gift types to consider as received or committed revenue with the Revenue type filter in Fundraising, Analyze or Reporting and on records of campaigns, funds, and appeals.
  • For received revenue, you can now consider pledges, matching gifts, or recurring gifts as cash-in-hand giving. You can also choose which payments — such as by method or commitment — to include.
  • For committed revenue, you can now consider whether to include one-time gifts as commitments. You can also include recurring gifts or payments toward commitments.
For more information, see the Revenue Types Help.

Hey Stephen! The recognition configuration applies to the total in the 'Lifetime giving' column, but not the Total giving filter option, which considers the constituent's overall giving across all gift types. Currently when you select to filter by Total giving, you can choose whether to include soft credit. A similar option to choose whether to consider pledge write-offs is a great idea. If you haven't already, I'd recommend adding it to the Idea Bank to help us gauge others' interest and need. Thanks!
Are these rules supposed to carry over to the Lists portion of NXT? I built a constituent list to look at donors with total giving over a certain amount. We have a donor with a very large pledge that was written off several years ago. This constituent list is not following the "deduct write-offs" parameter I set up in the configure recognition section, and I don't see any simple way to exclude this person through other list filters...
Hey Stacia! That's a great suggestion; if you haven't already, I'd recommend adding it to the Idea Bank (the Ideas tab above) so we can gauge its interest based on votes from others. In the meantime, recognition automatically includes soft credits, so to include matching gifts based on a donor's giving in their Lifetime giving total, you can soft credit them on the matching gift payments. Hope that helps! Thanks!

My organization recognizes matching gifts as a part of individual lifetime giving. I am able to configure it that way in RE database view ("credit matching gifts to donor"), but it doesn't seem to be an option yet in RE NXT. Is that something that can be considered?
