What's New In Raiser's Edge NXT The Week Of March 5

Published

This week, Raiser's Edge NXT introduces several enhancements, including to list filters, gifts, and the Home page.

Filter constituent lists by upcoming birthday and
age.
263bca964a8604e97fa23157dd15202f-huge-biTo help plan for an interaction or event, you can now select Filters, Constituent basics in a constituent list to include individuals with upcoming birthdays or by their age under Birthday.

  • To include constituents with upcoming birthdays, choose the future time period — such as Today, This week, or Next month — to include. For a custom time period, select Specific range, and enter the start and end days to include.

  • To filter constituents by their age, under Age, select the youngest and oldest ages — in years — to include. To view the date of birth and ages of constituents in a list, select Choose columns, Birthdate, and Apply changes.
Tip: To view the date of birth and ages of constituents in a list, select Choose columns, Birthdate, and Apply changes.

For more information, see Constituent Basics Filters.

Filter opportunity lists by likelihood, campaign, or fund. With Prospect Research Management, you can manage opportunities to track your efforts to build relationships with prospects and secure major gifts. On an opportunity's record, you can track how likely it'll result in giving and the intended uses for those gifts under Details. In an opportunity list, you can now select Filters, Opportunity details to include records based on this information. For more information, see Opportunity Details Filters

Change the donor on a gift record. To ease gift entry in the web view, you can now change the donor on a gift record when you select the wrong person. From any type of gift record, select Edit, Constituent.  For more information, see Gift Overview.

Stay current and efficient with a renovated Home. To help improve readability and focus, Home now features a streamlined Updates feed and a new layout and design. From Home, you can still stay current on the latest features, best practices, and other resources, with quick access to recently accessed constituent records and key tasks.

Hi Krista Lippert - Thanks for letting us know you're seeing an issue. To ensure we accurately address your problem, I suggest you open a case with Customer Support. We can investigate once we have additional details.
The Change the donor on a gift record piece does not seem to be working properly. I have tested it on multiple browsers and each time I get an error stating "Something went wrong. Please try again." I am attempting to move a individual gift to a different individual.
Hey Brent! We are aware of this limitation for the time being and don’t have immediate plans to change it, but do recognize it as a current limitation. We originally allowed gifts to be moved from organizations to individuals and vice-versa, but we encountered several issues in internal testing around things like matching gift pledges that we didn’t have time to fully unwind and resolve, so we opted to release the capability in its current state as opposed to releasing nothing at all. I would encourage you to log your suggestion in our Idea bank as a future feature enhancement that we will consider. It will definitely help with our prioritization to know how many organizations share your view on this use case. My hope is that in the meantime, the current capability will help in some situations.
Unfortunately, the moving gifts between donors isn't a complete solution.  You can only move the gift to another donor of the same type - i.e. individual to individual or org to org.  This is not helpful when the owner of the company make a gift that appears to be personal and you later find out it was a corporate gift.  Hopefully, Blackbaud will figure out that they only fixed part of this long standing problem.  And will quickly move to enable this regardless of donor type.
Not that it happens a lot, but being able to move a gift from one record to another is amazing.
Hi JP Provencal - Great question! Since it's a change to a gift, users need Edit permission for Gifts. We'll make sure to update the documentation with that detail.
I can't seem to find any details on the SECURITY around the new Change donor on a gift record function.  Can someone update us on what options/access level you need to have ignorer to do this?  (E.g. Users have to have Gift Delete rights in DB View)  I certainly wouldn't want people moving money around in my database willy-nilly!

Being able to change the donor of a gift - and more filters for the opportunities. This made my day!
