Is Becoming a Best Place to Work on Your Bucket List?

Published

The Best Companies Group (BCG) annually surveys organizations to identify and recognize businesses that create and maintain workplace excellence. So what makes an organization a Best Nonprofit to Work For?

One of the key drivers of excellence is “providing  the technology, equipment, and resources needed to do the job well.”  If you’ve ever tried to do a job without the right tools or training, you can see why this ranks high.

So how do these organizations provide resources? The NonProfit Times, April 2015 edition highlights some of the winners and their strategies.  A couple that stand out are: YearUp and American Heart Association.

YearUp, an organization that connects young adults who need opportunity with companies who need their talent, offers employees a stipend to pursue training and certifications.  American Heart Association (AHA) offers employees tailored learning plans comprised of virtual and face-to-face learning opportunities.  According to their CEO, Nancy Brown, these efforts allow AHA to “attract and retain talented employees while improving the organization’s ability to increase fundraising.”

Bottom line, if you’re aiming for workplace excellence, prioritizing development is a great place to start.  At Blackbaud University we can help you design a training plan for employees, or give your team the resources to select just the right course. Along with our technology courses like the Raiser's Edge NXT: Overview, we now offer Best Practice courses on subjects like Fundraising and Marketing and Communications.
