Exit Through the ... Event Space?

I actually started this blog post over a year ago. I stopped because I thought I was stating the obvious:  Driving visitors into your gift shop is good for business. So yeah, no duh. Any parent that has spent $30 on a penguin stuffed animal could’ve told you that.

Fast forward a year and I got inspired to revisit this topic. I was in Cincinnati for Cincinnati Art Museum’s ticketing go-live and decided to visit the American Sign Museum.

I just happened to be there at the right time and was invited to join the next guided tour.

Besides learning all about neon gas and Frisch’s Big Boy, the tour ended in some place I did not expect:

Their event space; the room they offer for facility rentals. The room is adorned with historic signs from local businesses. They even had a table set up that demonstrated what a place setting might look like:

For me this was a first, as facility rental spaces aren't typically one of the stops on a tour.

American Sign has taken a “space” and given it some local history and in the process they show off the room they rent out for corporate events and weddings.

Do you have a space for rent that might deserve to be shown off? Make it a stop on your tour!
