100 Ideas Implemented from the Altru Community

Published
With the 3.18 release of Altru (coming this week), we will implement our 100th customer-generated idea, submitted via our community! I know we say it often, but it really is true – we value your input.

Our product managers sort through ideas weekly, offering insight to our roadmap for the year and using your suggestions to help determine the direction of the product. Beyond submitting ideas, our products team highly values the feedback we receive from community members. We know that if we post a mock up/prototype or detail out a scenario, our community members will share their thoughts on how they'd like Altru to perform in certain situations. This timely feedback allows us to move quickly, implementing new ideas with each release.

The Altru Community is one of the strongest user communities in all of Blackbaud, and we're extremely proud to have such thoughtful contributors. It’s a great place for users to get help, share best practices, and suggest ideas for product improvements. As product managers, it’s the first place we go to see what ideas are popular. Some are big ideas that get us thinking about the overall strategy of Altru or the underlying architecture. Many others are usability improvements that help us understand how Altru is used on a daily basis and could be updated to save time.

We regularly review new ideas and popular topics to stay current on what’s most important, to ask for more context to help us understand the problem, or to share updates on where ideas fall on the roadmap. Combined with feedback from our sales, support, and services teams as they engage directly with new users and potential customers, community input helps our team ensure we're making product updates that will provide the most value to Altru users. Even as we pull new ideas into development, the Altru Community is a resource we tap into for Discovery participants or to bounce off new ideas, as questions come up in the design process. We always get quality, constructive feedback from community members and appreciate the partnership we have in working together to improve Altru.

We LOVE to listen to our customers and we make it a priority to truly understand the root of the problems our customers face as part of our everyday interaction with customers. Good listening is not easy and requires empathy and a deep passion for problem solving but it is a core part of the customer driven development process that we are proud to use with Altru.

To recap ideas we’ve implemented from the community, here’s a little round up:

Here are some of our most popular:

You now have the ability to make some global changes in the system.

You are now able to customize your acknowledgement emails by online purchase.

You can now refund or correct a group sale after it has been checked in.

You can now issue partial refunds for items.

You can now reschedule tickets, rather than refund and repurchase.

Here are the most recent (coming in 3.18):

You can now remove tax from orders in daily sales.

You are able to view tasks for special events on the organization calendar.

You will now be able to see membership add-ons in daily sales.

The contact tile on the organization record will now show the primary contact first.

You will now be able to filter revenue and recognition lists by specific date.

So if you’d like to be more involved with the direction of Altru, please use our community. You can submit an idea, vote for your favorites, and leave feedback about specific functionality. Your Blackbaud.com login grants you permissions to use the community, so joining just involves logging in.
