New Years Resolutions

Published
Whether we buy into New Year's Resolutions or not, it's hard NOT to start your year out with a game plan. We all have a running list of things we'd like to accomplish, based on what we did last year - or maybe what we didn't do last year! Here's what a few of our Altru users are focused on for 2015:

Stephanie Henke, Nantucket Historical - Recurring Gifts! And our membership department will be focusing on going paperless for renewals.

Kristina Gerard, Speed Art Museum - I have 2 main ones I am working on:

  1. Create “self-service” stations for when we reopen in 2016. It will be a tablet station where a visitor can leave a comment, take a survey, buy a membership, and possibly purchase tickets (that last one is a tricky one).
  2. Create a “round-up donation” feature in the shop (and possibly the front desk). When someone buys merchandise, we can offer them the option to round up the remainder to donate to the Museum. Example: Your sale comes to 10.70? Donate .30 to the museum and pay an even $11.00. **This resolution will only become a reality if Altru can make a round-up button or something of the like, that will do the math for us – I have a feeling it will be too difficult to do the math manually when you have a line out the door. I have started a community post about this!**

Margaret Matteson, Delaware Art Museum - I am determined to create some interactive reports using OData, and use it to streamline our attendance and fundraising reporting which are currently very time consuming to pull.

I also want to do some work that will make our back office procedures more automated, which will probably mean lots of digging into mail merge functions.

And finally, I want to write an internal manual, describing the way we set up Altru for us and what our various codes mean. No sweat!

Marcya Burton, Telfair Museum - Telfair Museum’s 2015 Resolution is to ensure accuracy in our Database as we are finishing our 2nd year. Properly training everyone who is inputting memberships albeit Front Desk or staff at events so they are acknowledged correctly; duplications are to a minimum; constituents are being properly acknowledged in all formats; and all member groups are at 100% museum membership and accuracy in their records. Looking forward are goals are not only retention rate but to increase membership and fundraising goals but maximizing the Database in searching for donors.

Shannon Knight, Rhode Island School of Design - Here are my goals:

  • Finish clean-up of original migrated data (recognizing that data clean-up is a never ending battle)
  • Set up dashboards for the Director and the Director of External Affairs, and possibly for Board members
  • Train specific Museum personnel to be Query Gurus (so it's not just me)
  • Incorporate information about gifts of art -- from our collection management system -- into constituent records to give us a more robust picture of our community

What are your goals for 2015? Share with us on the community!
