Organizational Commonalities

Published
In the Arts & Cultural sector there are so many different types of organizations. Museums, galleries, zoos, aquariums, botanical gardens, sculpture gardens, art societies, historical societies, planetariums. Did I not mention your type of organization? If I didn’t, don’t worry. Although we are diverse in our types and goals, we are not so different from each other. One thing that ties us together in this slice of the nonprofit world is our use of Blackbaud Altru for managing many (if not all) aspects of our operations.

So maybe we all have similar successes and similar speed bumps. Hopefully, we all are successfully fundraising to expand our reach and improve our guest experience. But it’s possible we all are struggling in some areas, too. Do you have issues with data consistency, or maybe problems with code table overload? It can happen!

Did you know that you can make quick changes to a group of records by using Browse query? If you’ve grouped records using a query and need to make a quick change to them, you can process the query and scroll through each record using the Browse button. This is a super way to adjust a small group of records and improve your database’s accuracy.

Wondering how you can learn more tips and tricks for improving the data you are storing? Blackbaud University has the class for you. Altru: Keeping Your Data Clean lays out how to build a data quality plan and describes the tools to accomplish regular data maintenance. We may have diverse organization types and goals, but clean data should be an overarching commonality.

Quick heads up -- we taught this class yesterday and it was really great! (I admit, I wrote it, but I enjoyed the conversations it spurred!
Thank you for the tip on Browse query!  I will be exploring that!
