Like Simon, But Simpler

Published
Did you ever play the Hasbro game Simon? Essentially, you hold the game unit, and colored buttons light up in a sequence while musical tones play. After you see the sequence, you push the buttons to repeat the sequence back to the game unit. If you get the sequence wrong, you lose the game. In the 1980s I was great at Simon. In the 21st century, my skills are lacking! Remembering more than three items on a grocery list is a stretch, let alone a whole sequence of buttons. But Simon is still fun to play.

Altru doesn’t light up or play music, but it can challenge your memory, too. Some functions we perform in Altru daily; others are performed monthly, and some quarterly or yearly. I can usually remember the process to perform daily and monthly functions with just some quick hints from my notes. But ask me to remember things I do once a year or once a quarter, and I can easily get stuck. Financial reconciliation is one of those challenging tasks.

But there’s good news! Blackbaud University can help you recall the financial reconciliation sequence! Our newest eLearning course, Basics of Financial Reconciliation, is a great resource to launch when you are ready to perform your reconciliation.
