Get Creative with an Online Special Event

Published
My family members are scattered across many states. And with travel particularly limited at this time, our family can’t be together in person for special events such as weddings, retirements, and birthday parties. So this year, I decided to get a little creative for my daughter’s sixth birthday.

We connected our Apple TV so that we could meet in real time while everyone sang Happy Birthday. This experience kept all of us engaged, and everyone shared in the message together—and at the same time!

Providing an online experience for your special event allows attendees to remain emotionally involved and associate positive feelings with your organization and mission. Need some inspiration? Blackbaud University can help you configure and manage your special events. Here are a few simple tips to help get you started:
  • Configure the event record with as much detail as possible
  • Be sure to advertise your event and send invitations well in advance
  • Analyze your event success and determine room for improvement
As for me, this new experience created a special memory—one that everyone is still talking about!
