MVQ Contest: Show Us Your Most Valuable Query

Published
Here on the Altru support team, we're always flattered when we get MVP nominations. We try our best to quickly answer your questions and solve your problems, and we take pride in being recognized for our skills. But we're not alone; you guys also have some solid Altru skills. You create some seriously detailed queries, pulling all kinds of information. That being said, we'd like to recognize you for your awesome Altru abilities - so we thought we'd run a little contest to encourage you.

Enter the MVQ - Most Valuable Query - Contest.

Alright, so this contest is two fold.

How do I enter?

1 - Use Jing to Record Your Screen as You Build Your Most Valuable Query

What do I mean by most valuable? The query you enter should be something that's really valuable to you and your organization, but also something that other community members could benefit from. So you could submit that super extensive query you have set up just for your org - and try to win just by bragging rights - or you could submit a basic query that you use often, but other members might not have known could be done. Up to you. It's all about sharing your advice. Which query did you wish you knew about when you got started? Which query saves you the most time?

Feel free to narrate your video (we love quips). If you don't have a microphone, no worries. Just record your steps and write any details you'd need below (ie "This query will show you how to ..."). Check out this video David created, as an example:

2 - Upload Your Video to the Altru Community

Just submit your query as reply to this post and be sure to list what information they pull, so other users know which ones they want to watch.
For every query you submit, you'll be entered to win. We'll draw a winner at the end of the contest.

How do I win?

1 - Enter! For every query you submit, you'll be entered in our drawing.

2 - Check out the queries your fellow community members have submitted and then give them the "Good Answer" if you find their query helpful. The member with the most "good answer" tags will also be a winner. You know the "good answer" I'm talking about, right? See below:

GoodAnswer

What do I win?

Since the contest is two-fold, so is the prize. Our winners will receive dedicated time with an analyst. You'll schedule an hour of 1 on 1 time with a query expert and walk through setting up queries in your own database!

Our winners will also receive hardware. Do you need a mic to help record those videos? Want a webcam for webex calls or Google hangouts? Need a ticket scanner? I'll provide you with a $100 Amazon gift card and you can pick up whatever device you need!

To sum it up:

Create a how-to query video with Jing and post to THIS POST in the community. Watch other members' videos and "good answer" your favorites. Feel free to "good answer" ALL the queries you find helpful.

In the spirit of March Madness, we'll be selecting our MVP, err MVQ, at the end of March.

Ready? Just go to this post and submit your query. David has posted the 1st entry - just as an example. Don't worry - our employees can't win. But they may jump in with advice here and there.

What are you waiting for - get to querying and ENTER HERE!
