Does Your onCampus Academic Success Team Soar?
The holiday season is here! Everyone’s making air travel plans, and the airlines are working hard to get people where they want to be, and when they want to be there. To ensure each flight’s success, every airline relies on several roles working together. We might think of those roles as a flight success team.527bfea7d77891ed5410af90486d8cad-huge-ai Similarly, your school could benefit from an onCampus Academic success team working to ensure successful “transport” of the vital academic data in your onCampus database. Let’s take a look at how a flight success team is similar to an onCampus success team.

Air Traffic Control – aka Group Managers
Of course we all recognize the importance of the pilot in charge of an airplane, but what about air traffic control? Without their incredible timing and organization, planes could not safely depart for, or land at, their intended destinations. When it comes to onCampus Academic Groups, your Group Managers are the air traffic control members of the onCampus success team. Group Managers have the “big picture” view of what actually happens in the onCampus database, schoolwide. They handle the tasks of communicating to teachers (the pilots) the expectations and policies regarding the use of content, assignments, and the Grade Book. Group Managers play a huge role in your school’s success!

Airplanes and Passengers – aka Courses and Students
Courses and students are the airplanes and passengers in your onCampus success team. Have you thought about actually creating courses each semester and assigning the correct students (passengers) to each section (airplane)? Will you manually create your classes, or have you considered using the data import process? Regardless of the size of your school, this procedure needs to be well thought out and documented to avoid complications and delays.

Airport Security – aka Course Access
Course Access in onCampus is the airport security of your onCampus success team. Will parents and advisors be able to view all Academic Groups, or is your school interested in keeping courses private? And who is educating parents and students on how to retrieve course information? Will parents be able to see their child’s upcoming assignments over your school’s holiday break? These questions and more are just a few priorities you must consider when designing Academic Groups. The key to success with Academic Groups is knowing what options are available in the system and having a well-documented plan for your school and onCampus success team.
