What’s New: K-12 Product Updates for September 19

Published

It’s time once again to have a look at What’s New inside of Blackbaud’s School Management System for September 19, 2018.

Arriving tomorrow, Update 13.10 features a wide range of added features and updates to the K-12 products. Academics and Core have the most content this month, with the latter containing some handy quality of life improvements and the former adding a few highly requested features. We also have a new Enrollment management feature, and we’ll be giving everyone an update on our recent blog posts.

Here's a look at some of the bigger items from this update:

Academics: Issuing a 0 in Rubrics. In a previous release, we updated Rubrics to allow teachers to adjust points specifically for extra credit work, or to take away points from a late assignment. New in the September 19 release is the ability to essentially bypass Rubric proficiencies and issue a student a 0.

When evaluating student work with a Rubric, select Adjust points under Points earned. In here, select Mark score as zero to remove any current score and place a 0.

Core: Blackbaud ID Logout Changes. Originally introduced before Labor Day, we’ve increased the idle time for users who authenticate with Blackbaud ID. Now, the idle duration has increased from 15 minutes to 90 minutes. A Keep Working? Prompt will appear a few minutes before the timeout occurs, giving the user a small window of opportunity to stay logged in.

So why the extended time? The biggest reason is for users who spend a longer amount of time working on Pushpage or other tasks that may accidentally cause the system to assume they’re idle.

Enrollment management: Deleting High Volume School Forms. School forms managers can now delete high volume school forms without any restrictions. To prevent accidental deletions, a warning message still displays before the forms are deleted permanently.

There’s plenty more waiting for you inside of the September 22 release. As always, make sure to visit our online help center to view the full release notes here. We also have the release video for a visual look at everything included within 13.10.

In case you missed it, we’re back in action after taking a voluntary summer off from blogging here in the Tips and Tricks. Since the August release, we’ve posted a bunch of new topics to the Community Blog including a deep dive into Standard Application Online applications, using Rubrics for grading class work, and looking at how the Course Roster report can help teachers easily print out their class roster.

If you haven’t already been there, head to Tips and Tricks on this community site to read up! If you’re so inclined, make sure to subscribe to stay up to date on all of the latest content each week.

As always, thank you for your continued support each and every week. We’ll see you right back here next week for an all new blog post!
