Blackbaud’s Education Management Solutions: What’s New For November 30th, 2022
Here are the latest changes, updates, and new features for the Education management products for November 30th, 2022.
Extracurricular
Notifications
We've added notifications to the Communication menu. Athletic managers can now customize their notifications right from Extracurricular rather than having to go into Core.
Financial Aid Management
Multiyear feature available December 1
The Multiyear feature enables schools to decide when their application session opens and closes for the current and next school year. Schools can define sessions with overlapping dates, making it possible to accept applications for more than one school year at a time. For example, you can re-open the 22-23 session and continue accepting applications for the current school year, while also leaving the 23-24 session open and accepting applications for next year.
This year, we opened the 23-24 session for you when rollover was completed on October 4. Beginning next year with the 24-25 session, schools will be required to set their session open and close dates before families can apply to their school. If a family tries to select a school before the school’s application session begins, they will receive a message indicating the future open date.
If you want to leave your 22-23 application session closed and use the default application session dates for 23-24 (10/4/2022-10/3/2023), no action is needed at this time.
If you want to change the dates for your 23-24 application session and/or re-open your 22-23 application session, you can make the necessary changes in Settings > Manage School Years.
To change the dates for your 23-24 application session:

Go to Settings > Manage School Years.

Select the context menu for 2023-2024 > Edit.

Enter the Open Date and Close Date for your application session. The Open Date must be today or later.

Select Save.
To re-open the 22-23 application session and continue accepting applications for the current school year:

Go to Settings > Manage School Years.

Select the context menu for 2022-2023 > Edit.

Enter the Open Date and Close Date. The Open Date must be today or later.

Select Save.
Only the current and next session are included in Manage School Years.
The parent site has also been updated for multiyear functionality. Families will see options to apply for both the 22-23 and the 23-24 school years. In the application, they will only be able to select schools with an open application session for the year they’re applying to. Returning families will have access to last year’s application, documents, and communication logs.
Additionally, the parent navigation has been streamlined on the Home and My Applications tabs. We are updating Help resources throughout the parent site to reflect these changes. You can review these parent resources here.

Subscribe to “What’s New”
To receive email notifications when the What’s new update appears, make sure to subscribe to the K12 community’s blog by logging into the community site and selecting the Subscribe button.
To manage your community subscriptions:

Log into the community and locate your name and profile picture in the upper right corner.

Select the drop-down arrow and select My Account.

From the My Account page, select the Subscriptions tab and scroll down to the Blogs section.

Locate Blackbaud K-12 Education solutions Blog. If you want to be notified as soon as the What’s new content goes live on the community, select the Instant option. You can also opt for Daily and Weekly notifications.

Scroll to the end of the page and select Save changes.
