Learn How to Configure The Raiser's Edge with ResearchPoint

Published
We're now only days away from getting the new Raiser's Edge integration for ResearchPoint into your hands. As we go into upgrade weekend for ResearchPoint, I want to help you get ready to configure your databases.
Tip: Even if you previously integrated The Raiser's Edge with ResearchPoint, because of the shift to a better technology approach, you will need to re-configure your databases again.

We know you want to get back to your integration tasks as soon as possible or even get started with integration for the first time. We hope you're especially excited about the improved syncing and wealth screening! To get you there, let's review some key highlights for configuration:

  • Did you previously integrate The Raisers' Edge with ResearchPoint? If you did, you do not need to re-link your constituent and prospect records. You only need to link and sync new records you want to research.
  • You do not have to configure integration in ResearchPoint on the same workstation or server where The Raiser's Edge is installed. You only need access to The Raiser's Edge installation.
  • To make it easy on your organization, have an administrator who has access to The Raiser's Edge and ResearchPoint configure the integration. The first two parts of integration, configure the database key and configure the fields for integration, require one person to perform the task.
  • You only enter the database key once, but you can revisit your field configuration settings as needed.
  • We recommend you run Raiser's Edge, with Blackbaud Web Services installed, on a secure server or machine that you can leave on all the time. When this server or machine is off, you cannot use integration tasks in ResearchPoint.
  • It's easy to install or update Web Services. Better yet, if your Raiser's Edge installation is hosted with us, we install and update Blackbaud Web Services for you.
  • Determine which ResearchPoint users need to perform integration tasks. We recommend you create unique Raiser's Edge login credentials for each user and set them up as a security group.  When you set them up as a security group, you can easily set privileges to control access appropriately.
  • After an administrator configures the database key and fields to sync, each ResearchPoint user needs to log in to ReearchPoint, navigate to The Raiser's Edge Integration page, and enter his or her Raiser's Edge credentials on the Edit Credentials screen.

To help you prepare, here are two key resources to aid set up and configuration of the new integration!
