How To CASS Certify All Addresses Submitted To AddressFinder

Published

Check out this helpful article from the Data Enrichment Services team for Raiser's Edge users.

I am sure many RE users are familiar with the AddressFinder process. Many select to only update their “Moves” (Update only addresses with NCOA address changes.) But, are you really CASS certifying all addresses?

Most users do not know that two updates are needed in order to accomplish this; if you select this option. Below I have provided instructions on how to CASS certify the new addresses, as well as those addresses which a move was not found.

1. On the General Tab: Mark Create exception query, Update only addresses with NCOA address changes and Create table entries.

2. A. On the Process Options Tab: Mark to create a control report, in “Add the following to New Certified Addresses” leave Address type blank,  Add an Info source (ex. AddressFinder ), leave Date from  as is and Date to blank.

2. B. Mark Save Old Address in Constituent Address List, add an Address type (ex. Previous Address), leave Info source blank, leave the Date from and to as they are, and select the Send mail to this address as No.

3. On the Address Format tab: Mark your organizations preferences.
4. On Summary tab: Review your selections.
5. Click Update Now.
6. Once the update is complete click on Update Data again.
7.  On the General tab: Do not mark any boxes.

8. On the Process Options tab: Do not make any changes.

9. On the Address Format tab: Mark your organizations preferences.
10. On the Summary tab: Review your selections.
11. Click Update Now.

By following the steps above you will have CASS certified both new addresses and for those which a new move was not found. This will help ensure your addresses are looking clean and standardized. I hope this post has been helpful. Happy CASS certifying!
