4.96 Release: Constituent Merge - Preparation

Published

In our ResearchPoint 4.96 release, we are introducing the concept of merging records. Through working with this over the past few weeks, I wanted to pass along a tip that you can do now to hit the ground running when this is released.

In our Merge screen, you choose the Source record, the Target record, which Merge Configuration you'd like to use (essentially this is WHAT gets merged), and what you'd like to do to the Source record after the merge is complete - mark it Inactive or Delete it. In the screenshot below, you'll notice if you choose to mark the record Inactive, you must supply an Inactive Reason.

Inactive Reason is a required field however you cannot add new entries to this field on the fly (like you can with other tables). For this reason, I wanted to show you how to populate your RP database with Inactive Reasons so once Merge is live and ready to go, you won't have any issues using it.

Under your Prospects functional area, there is an option under "Configuration" for Reason Codes:

On this page, you can click "Add" and enter the Reason Code and the Description.

So - easy enough to get these setup. You may have already used these in the past if you've manually marked a record Inactive. We're excited about Merge and will keep you posted as it's available. Also, please register for my Webinar where I'll go through Merge in it's entirety next month.

Thanks!

This is exciting new Anthony. Thank you to you and your team for taking this from the idea bank to a functional process for RP users.
This is exciting! I've wanted to be able to merge records for quite a while. Great addition to RP! Thanks!
