Livin' La Vida Loca – Analytics Style!

Livin' la Vida Loca – Analytics Style!

Now that I have your attention, I guess there isn’t a lot of crazy and wild things to say about analytics and the data we work with day in and day out, but how about having some fun with it?  How about having fun with data while at the same time making it meaningful and actionable?  If this sounds like you (I am a proud data geek !), then I have a few things that might make gathering and utilizing your Target Analytics both fun and actionable in one fell swoop!

ResearchPoint is software, and there is so much data available via WealthPoint, Target Analytics Affluence, and ProspectPoint modeling, it can get overwhelming.  I have some practical ideas on how to query in RP on some helpful and interesting data points that could yield a list of prospects to refine larger lists of identified prospects, as well as identify prospects for specific events, mailings, or initiatives.  Here are five scenarios for your consideration, depending upon the services you have with TA:
  • Having a crowd funding effort?
    • Create a query in RP using the Larkspur data finding those who are Crowd Investors – Below is a screenshot of possible criteria for this:

  • Having a fundraising golf event?
    • Create a query in RP using both Larkspur and Who’s Who data finding those who have an interest in golf – Below is a screenshot of possible criteria for this:

  • Wish to identify prospects working in engineering fields?
    • Create a query in RP using D&B business data and the proper SIC code(s) available to the US Department of Labor’s website – Below is a screenshot of possible criteria for this given that ‘Engineering Services’ has an SIC code of ‘8711’:

  • Having a seminar to discuss planned giving for retirees?
    • Create a query in RP using Who’s Who and Experian data to identify retirees based on top scoring Planned Giving Likelihood (PGL) prospects – Below is a screenshot of possible criteria for this:

  • Sending a targeted mailing to engage your mid-level prospects – or what I like to think of as emerging major gift prospects – who belong to the most affluent donor groups in the country to move the needle for more significant giving?
    • Create a query in RP using your ProspectPoint modeling data using Major Giving Likelihood (MGL) and Target Gift Range (TGR) scores with Target Analytics Affluence data for those in the ‘A’ Philanthropist donor group:

I know there are so many ways to dig into your analytics, so I would love to hear how other clients are not only having fun with the analytics, but also finding actionable and practical ways to identify pools of prospects for various programs and initiatives!

Love the idea of querying terms in wealth indicators
Terri, hi there!  Thank you so much for noticing this.  I was having issues uploading my picture on Tuesday evening, but thank you for noticing this.  I love the Planned Giving query too.  I am going to edit the posting and include the correct screenshot of the query.  Thanks again, and if you have ideas on tweaking these queries or other queries, I know the TA Community will appreciate your expertise!
Carol, these are great, but I am wondering about the planned giving search. The criteria appear to be the same as for the golf tournament search. Are those people the same?
