ATTENTION RAISER’S EDGE NXT AND RESEARCHPOINT CLIENTS:  Next Steps For Your Post “Giving Tuesday” Fundraising Efforts

Published
Now that Giving Tuesday is over and the busyness of that day has settled down a bit, I have some suggestions for next steps that our Raiser’s Edge NXT clients with embedded analytics and who also have ResearchPoint should consider with any new, increasing and repeat donors:

Next Steps for New and Increasing Donors in Raiser’s Edge for Major Gifts:
  1. Create a query in Raiser’s Edge in the database view of all your new donors or those who increased their donations on Giving Tuesday from their last gift amount with Donor Type equal to ‘M’ OR Wealth Rating is one of ‘A, B, C, D’ (for those in certain geographies, you might include ‘E’ as well), as this will identify those who have the inclination to be a major gift donor to you at the Next Ask Amount level of $1,001 OR they have $1,000,000 or more in identified assets via the Wealth Rating
    1. Note: Wealth Rating of ‘E’ indicates $500,000 or more in identified assets
    2. Note: You will see the “Donor Type” via your Raiser’s Edge NXT integrated analytics only if your have either an NXT Essentials or Professional subscription
    3. Tip: Be sure to include in the query output the “System Record ID”, as you will need this field in order to import the query via the RE-RP integration
  2. Next within ResearchPoint, click on the “Prospect” functional area, click on the “Add list from RE7” button (has orange RE logo to the left of it) near the top of the page, then find the query you just saved, and lastly name it the same name as your query in RE to be consistent
    1. Note: You have now imported any new records into RP – by where you created a Research List – and they are all linked with your records for this prospects in RE
    2. Note: Within 24 hours of importing this data into ResearchPoint, you will receive Affluence Insight™ data results
  3. Next click on the “Screen list” button (has binoculars to the left of it) to obtain a WealthPoint screening for this group of new donors who have either wealth identified or have the inclination to give your nonprofit a major gift
    1. When the WealthPoint screening is completed for this Research List, sort it by the “Total confirmed assets” column in descending order and begin reviewing the prospect research gleaned on these prospects
      1. Tip: Create a strategic plan such as an engagement campaign via personal thank-you letters or hand-written cards by your gift officers or consider assigning prospects to a gift officers for larger gift qualification opportunities
    2. Tip: You can also further prioritize this Research List you just created in RP by creating a query based on the “WealthPoint screening date” located under the “Wealth Information” field folder to isolate this group of prospects you just imported and screened – or query on the “Date added” field under the “Constituents” folder and “System Fields”
      1. Example #1: Prioritize this list by further querying with those who have confirmed philanthropic gifts to a similar nonprofit under the “Category” field or the “Low amount” of their giving is >=$1,000 – and please note that you can have auto-confirmed matches in the NOZA database of philanthropic giving if you have ResearchPoint Essentials or Professional subscription
      2. Example #2: For clients with Affluence Insight™ subscriptions – Prioritize this list by further querying with those who have a Donor Category that begins with ‘A’ to identify affluent “Philanthropists” OR begins with ‘D’ to identify affluent “Enigmas”
        • Tip: The field for Donor Category is located under the “Model Scores and Ratings” folder, then under the “Attributes” folder, and finally is the “Value” for the field “Target Analytics Wealth Segmentation Attribute”

Next Steps for Giving Tuesday Donors in Raiser’s Edge for Annual Gifts Who Also Have Affluence Insight™:
  1. Create a query in Raiser’s Edge in the database view of all your new or repeat Giving Tuesday donors with Donor Type equal to ‘A’ as this will identify those who have the inclination to be a annual gift donor to you at the Next Ask Amount level of $1 - $1,000
    1. Note: You may want to include those Giving Tuesday repeat donors who did not increase their last gift but who have a Major Giving Prospect Donor Type of ‘M’ since they are not included in the first query suggestion at the beginning of this blog
    2. Note: You will see the “Donor Type” via your Raiser’s Edge NXT integrated analytics only if your have an NXT Essentials or Professional level subscription
  3. The next day you can synchronize this list with Raiser’s Edge:
    1. Tip: Check out my blog from last month as well as Ryan’ Corder’s comment to my blog near the bottom of this link on setting up RE integration of your Affluence Insight™ data, as well as the steps involved in synchronizing your research list
    2. Tip: Here is a link to Liza Turcotte’s blog on utilizing Affluence Insight™ for your annual giving efforts
  4. You also might consider employing appropriate solicitation messages for this Giving Tuesday annual gift prospects based on their Affluence Insight™ Donor Categories:
    1. ‘A’ Philanthropists respond to positive-potential messaging – They seek mass scale improvements rather than on single cases
    2. ‘B’ Humanitarians are engaged by messages of need and relating to grass roots issues – They seek to help their fellow man instead of changing the world on a mass scale
    3. ‘C’ Casual Donors respond to positive messages, but relate more to needs – They want a better world, but concentrate mainly on their part of it
    4. ‘D’ Enigmas are self-made and think others can succeed in kind – They may respond to positive or need based messages, but conversion takes committed effort and convincing arguments from you

I hope that you found a few helpful and practical tips on utilizing your Raiser’s Edge NXT analytics in conjunction with your ResearchPoint subscription for your post Giving Tuesday efforts.
