Identifying Potential COVID-19 Supporters with NOZA Philanthropic Giving

I wanted to start off this blog by saying that the need for funding, support and resources during the COVID-19 pandemic is significant as you work to pivot your office location, activate supporters and minimize disruptions at your organization. Our colleague, Lawrence Henze, posted a blog on sgENGAGE with some thoughts for your nonprofit to consider during this challenging time in our nation’s history.
Last week I was working with one of our healthcare client and they asked for help to see if there was data in WealthPoint to identify those who could be prospects for an appeal to help raise money for COVID-19-related funding. I suggested looking at our NOZA database of philanthropic giving by isolating those who have given to various organizations and nonprofit categories. I found a few very helpful nonprofit categories, for example one for disaster relief and preparedness. I then created a query in ResearchPoint with the client, and here is what we came up via screenshots below that include both the criteria utilized and below that is the recommended output:
Here is a screenshot of what some of the output looks like minus a few constituent fields (names, IDs, cities and states) of the prospects:
If you find that your output is yielding fewer or more results that you like or if you wish to only include confirmed matching, then you can review the various match codes below for the NOZA philanthropic giving data to determine which match codes you do or do not wish to include:
I hope this timely query suggestion is helpful to your nonprofit if you are embarking on a similar endeavor. I would greatly appreciate any feedback from other ResearchPoint clients on criteria suggestions for this query – in other words other recipient organizations to include in a ‘Contains’ statement, that would be helpful.
Blackbaud also has a short video message on YouTube regarding Blackbaud's COVID-19 resources to help as well as this link on Blackbaud COVID-19 Event and Fundraising Resources.
Here’s wishing you and your families safety, wellness and blessings.
