Obligations Showing in Red?

Published
Have you ever had Obligation in Accounts Payable show in red but not know why?  When Obligations show in red, it indicates that the Business Date that you are signed in with is earlier than the last date posted on the Obligation.

Your Business Date is used as the Posting Date for each stage of the Obligation.  You cannot perform any Obligation task with a Business Date that is earlier than the latest Posting Date on the Obligation.  For example, you Mark for Pay with a Business Date of August 1.  You then unmark the Obligation and change your Business Date to July 1 to edit a distribution line for posting to the July General Ledger.  When you edit the Obligation, you receive the "The Last Business Date on selected Obligation(s) is later than the Current Business Date" message.  You have to edit this Obligation with a Business Date of August 1 or later.

If you are not sure what the last Business Date on the Obligation is, see BB715096.  This Knowledgebase solution will take you through two different ways to see what the Last Business Date is on any Obligation.
