Account Budgets: Get Your Projects in the Game!

Published
You've finally tackled your spending plan and entered all of the account budgets for the year. Whew! Then you remember your projects...uh oh! Luckily, in The Financial Edge, there is an easy way that we can distribute account budgets to the projects that use the accounts.

Our optional module, Budget Management, makes your life easier by allowing you to enter project budgets within account budgets right from the budget record.

For example, your expense account has a budget for $12,000 for the year. Project 1 uses $2000 of the budget; Project 2 uses $7000; and Project 3 uses $3000. A few simple steps will allocate the $12,000 exactly where it needs to go.

Let’s take a peek at the Account View on the budget record. Our active account displays in the window and a grid appears where we can enter each project ID on a line and its distribution across the budget time period. As with entering account budgets, we can load saved distributions or distribute amounts evenly across budget periods. Then, we save our changes!

Easy enough? Check out How to distribute an account budget to projects (BB420770) for step-by-step instructions.
