Filtering Visual Chart Organizers In More Ways Than One!

Published
Are you wondering how to see your reports in a new and exciting way for the start of the fiscal year? If so, editing your Visual Chart Organizer is the answer for you! As you know, each Visual Chart Organizer (VCO) is a template that defines how our accounts appear when we run Financial Statements and other reports in The Financial Edge. You may be asking yourself how to filter sections on a Visual Chart Organizer other than by account code. We will accomplish this objective as you read through the blog!

Before we go any further, we will need to verify that a certain Business Rule is set within your General Ledger.  On the navigation bar of General Ledger, let’s go to Configuration, Business Rules, and select Visual Chart Organizer. We must verify that the option that says to allow advanced filters when defining account detail lines is checked. Once we verify this, we can continue on!

Our final step will be to navigate to Visual Chart Organizer on the navigation bar and to open the VCO that we want to see an exciting change in! Once inside our Visual Chart Organizer, let’s click on the word View at the top and ensure that Design View has a checkmark placed next to it. Once inside the Design View, let’s locate the Account Detail that we hope to add advanced filters to. Once we highlight the Account Detail, let’s click on the Account Detail Definition tab at the bottom of the screen. On the Account Detail Definition tab, we should see a drop down with options to Include Selected accounts using advanced filters. Once we select this option, we are automatically granted the ability to filter on specific Funds, Departments, Projects, etc.

Hooray! We now have numerous options to filter our Visual Chart Organizer. We hope that this blog helps you achieve your dream of filtering in more ways than one!
