1099 Grid Tips

Published
Because this is our first year using Aatrix to process our 1099s, I wanted to share some tips and tricks on the preparer grid. There are a few things we can do to adjust how the preparer grid looks. When you are on the W2/1099 Preparer Grid, you will notice the grid is sectioned off. You can drag the divider to expand or hide one of the sections. To drag the divider, hover your mouse over the divider until the around displays “<-->”. You can then click and drag as desired. Another tip to customize your view is moving the columns to your preferred order. By right clicking the green column header, you may choose to move a row to the left or right.

Is a Vendor hiding within a long list? Right click on a column and choose Find to search for text within the column. What I find helpful is the sorting option. By right clicking the header, you also have the choice to sort the grid by that particular column by clicking “Sort rows by…”.

Do you need to remove rows? Click the row number from the first column and press “Delete” on your keyboard. To delete multiple rows at once, hold down Ctrl on your key board and click the rows to remove. Once the rows are highlighted, press “Delete” on your keyboard. Need to add additional rows? Right click on a row number and choose Insert from the menu. You will be prompted for how many rows to insert.

Have you not received a vendor TIN? You may mark the 2nd TIN not./Second TIN notice box to indicate you do not have record of the Vendor TIN at this time. Otherwise, you may be altered that a valid TIN must be entered. This box must be marked in order to proceed with an empty TIN field

I know reviewing the grid can be time consuming. You may find yourself taking a break or moving on to another task. By clicking File > Save within the grid, you can choose to save the grid as a work-in-progress. When you are ready to pick up where you left off, once you choose Display Report from Mail > Forms > 1099 Forms, you will be asked if you want to use your work-in-process.
