1099 Tips and Tricks

Published
To continue our trend from last week, I want to expand on additional tips and tricks for going through the 1099 process.  I will include links to other informative blogs, as well as Knowledgebase articles and other helpful resources.

1. If you would like a step by step guide on how to go through the 1099 setup wizard and the preparer grid, please take a look at our 1099 processing guide as well as our How to Create 1099 blog post.

2. As mentioned in our Aatrix tips and tricks blog post, if you make any changes inside the preparer grid for 1099s, this will not update any information inside of Financial Edge.  It is always recommended to makes changes inside Financial Edge so the changes will move forward to Aatrix.

3. Verifying your amounts can be done through multiple avenues, I HIGHLY recommend visiting our How To Find And Correct 1099 Activity blog post, which discusses this process in detail.

4. 1099 corrections are very easy and can be done on the vendor record by selecting the 1099 Adjustments button.  Please remember that you are entering the amount that the 1099s need to be adjusted by.  For an in-depth explanation on how to go through this process, use our 1099 Wizard (please note to access this, you must log into the blackbaud.com website).

5. Your company EIN pulls from inside of Accounts Payable by selecting Configuration then General.  This is the Federal ID # field, so ensure this is correct before processing your 1099s as this cannot be changed inside of Aatrix.

6. If you still need to order forms, please reach out to our Blackbaud forms department as soon as possible.

7. As of Patch 10 for version 7.87, we have introduced a new radio button which allows you to choose if a vendor is an organization or an individual.  This radio button controls which format is send to Aatrix, either the EIN format for an Organization (XX-XXXXXXX) or SSN format for an Individual (XXX-XX-XXXX).  Additional information can be found on our Organization And Individual Options On Vendor Records blog post.

8. If you have further questions, chat with a Financial Edge analyst now.

Please keep an eye on this post as it will be updated as additional tips and tricks are gathered from users.
