Direct Debit Processing with Blackbaud Merchant Services

Did you know that you can now process ACH (direct debit) gifts in eTapestry using Blackbaud Merchant Services? Blackbaud’s end-to-end payment solution has always supported credit card transactions processed in your database. However, with the January 25 release of patch 7.13.2, you can use Blackbaud Merchant Services for both credit card and U.S. dollar ACH transactions.

If you already have a Blackbaud Merchant Services account set up in eTapestry, it’s simple to configure it for ACH. Just follow these steps:

• From the Management tab, click My Organization under Admin.
  
• After the My Organization screen appears, click eCommerce.
  
• Under Transaction Processors, click on your existing BBMS Processor.
  
• Select Supports EFT. Donors can make recurring or one-time gifts.
  

Note: Direct debit transactions do not process in real time and, instead, are processed in bulk once each day. If the transaction does not process successfully within seven days, eTapestry automatically generates a gift reversal.

• Click Save.
  

To update your existing DIY pages, you’ll need to:

• Click DIY Forms from the Management tab.
  
• Click Edit on the form you want to update.
  
• Once the page loads, click Settings and check the box under Online Giving Settings and Transaction Processor to Include ACH/Direct Debit.
  
• Select Update.
  
• On the main page, click Save and then Go Live.
  

Note: You will need to make these updates to each of your existing DIY pages. And, if Blackbaud Merchant Services is not your default processor, you will also need to update the Transaction Processor section of each DIY page.
