One look at this name:

Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch

...and your brain may refuse to process it. This large community in Wales recently enjoyed the world spotlight after a weatherman perfectly pronounced its name during a live broadcast. Roll the video!

What's in a name? Well, with the release of 7.16 -- names are changing. But, the good news is that it isn't as complex as saying Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch three times fast.

Here's an outline of the changes:
  • You select a Name Format to identify an account as Individual, Family, or Business.
  • When you select Individual, you now enter name information in separate fields for Title, First Name, Middle Name, Last name, and Suffix.
When you previously entered information in the single Name field, it is likely you did not always have enough flexibility for processing needs.

By making it a little more complex, we are actually making it better for you!

But, you must complete the conversion first. How? Simply follow THIS guide or check out the video below:

If you are an existing customer prior to the 7.15.0 release, the Name Format enhancement and its corresponding features become available to you during a phased roll out for all remaining eTapestry customers. This began when 7.16.0 releases on August 2, 2015 and culminates in Fall 2015. Prior to your organization’s implementation, you will receive notification within your eTapestry application with more information about how to prepare for the enhancements.

Did you do the conversion? Leave us a comment below and let us know how you like the new feature! We can also answer any questions you might have. Just don't ask us to pronounce: Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch properly!

I noticed at 5:02 on the video, Step 4: Split Individual Names, that most of the names were of couples (Shane and Ella Kimpson, for instance, being split into "Shane and Ella" for First Name and "Kimpson" for Last Name. So does this mean I should identify my 1200 or so married couples as the "Individual" Name Format instead of "Family?" It seems like if I choose Family, I will be stuck with all the salutations and Sort Name being the same as Account Name.
