Action Required For Your Janrain Facebook App

Note: This blog is updated to reflect additional Facebook restrictions effective August 1, 2018.

Previously, we notified our Janrain customers to resubmit their Facebook app in Facebook for Developers to retain the rights to collect social data from Facebook. However, Facebook further restricted data sharing following an August 1, 2018 update.


If you use Janrain for social login and sharing for Luminate Online, be aware of the following impacts and required actions:

• Due to Facebook's data restrictions, neither Janrain nor Luminate Online can provide analytics around Facebook sharing. See Janrain's post about this change.

• Social Login remains unchanged. If you only use Janrain's social login with Facebook, you do not need to take action.

• Social Sharing requires action.  Follow the instructions in this Community post to update your configuration in Janrain to use the Facebook native app instead of the non-native app. Until you complete the updates, constituents may see an error when trying to share content.
