Are You Being Seen?

InboxThanks to the pandemic, I think I've gotten at least one email from every company or organization I've ever given my email address to. I'm sure you have, too.

In this uncertain environment, many organizations are sending out more communications than they normally would this time of year. With all these messages going out, you want to make sure your emails are hitting inboxes and not being missed—or being sent directly to junk mail.

As strange as it sounds, one of the best ways to ensure your emails are seen is to make it easy for those constituents who no longer wish to receive your emails to opt out. Check your email stationeries to verify that your unsubscribe links are clear and obvious. It may seem counterintuitive, but the easier it is for someone to unsubscribe to your emails, the less likely they are to mark your message as spam or junk mail. Letting people opt out also helps to focus your target audience, which has been proven to improve both inbox placement and open rates.

Learn how to update your stationeries and other tips on how to improve your email sends with Blackbaud University's Luminate Online: Optimizing Your Email Performance course.
