TeamRaiser Tips & Tricks: How To Tackle Registration Abandonment

Published
The following post is from Marcy Fritter, an account manager with Cathexis Partners, a Blackbaud Partner.

Imagine if you could determine which people started to register for your TeamRaiser event or campaign and did not finish, and then follow up to encourage them to complete their registration?

With a few simple tricks, you can!

Hereā€™s how:
  1. Move the ā€œlogin/create an accountā€ step into Surveys in Luminate Online, prompting the registrant to log in or create an account before they enter the TeamRaiser registration flow. Only logged-in constituents can be added to a group, so this is important as the first step. It will allow you to track all registrants from the start, ensuring you wonā€™t miss any new constituents who abandon registration before the Personal Information step (when they would normally be logged in). Using CSS and styling, you can make this look seamless, as if itā€™s part of the TeamRaiser flow.
  2. Create a group for registration abandonment.

  3. Add the ā€œUā€ tag ā€œU2ā€ and the group i.d. for the registration abandonment group you created on every page of the registration flow within the HTML caption area. Note that the code around the U2 tag comments out the U2 tag so itā€™s not visible to the registrant.

  4. On the thank you page, remove users who complete the registration process from the registration abandonment group. You can do this using the ā€œU3ā€ tag and the registration abandonment group i.d.

  5. For anyone left in the registration abandonment group, set up an automated message targeted just to the people in that group. The message can encourage them to complete their registration and provide them with a help document or contact information in case they need help with registration.

This approach is a great and simple way to proactively win back potentially lost registrations for your TeamRaiser event or campaign.
