If you’re a parent, you might have used this Southern idiom.
Here’s an example. My oldest daughter looks in the refrigerator for a snack. She searches and searches, only to find that what she wanted was right in front of her the whole time. Other times I have to find it for her. I’ve always told her: If It were a snake, it would have bitten you.
