What's New In DonorCentral - 9/26/18 Release

Published

This release includes an enhancement to the search functionality on the Grant recommendation form.

Enhanced search functionality

To optimize and improve performance when searching for organizations, we've made enhancements to the search functionality on the Grant recommendation form.

When you search for an existing charity in Search for a recipient, you'll now see these changes in the search behavior:

  • The search performs faster than it did previously, due to optimizations that we've made.

  • For performance reasons, you'll now have to enter three characters for the search criteria before the search is conducted.

  • The search results are now sorted by the organization name, instead of by the organization's sort name.

The organization sort name is used by some FIMS users as an alternate name for an organization. It was originally intended to eliminate prefixes, such as The or A, when ordering an organization in a list. For example, previously The United Way was sorted as United Way, which caused confusion when viewing the search results. Now, the search results are sorted by the organization name, so The United Way appears between the S's and the U's.
