SP11 Preview: BBIS Event Registration Goodness!

Read more about new BBIS features being delivered in the last release of 2016, including a new event registration form which is the first execution of our multi-release events plan, private messaging for directories, and more!

We are coming to the end of the year and our final release of 2016!  Our SP11 release is gearing up to release in late December and will be chock full of features for Blackbaud Internet Solutions (BBIS) that we are excited to tell you about. This blog post will feature information about our new event registration form.

NEW Event Registration Form!
SP11 will include a brand new event registration form that will be our baseline for future event registration improvements. Don't worry, events can continue to run on the existing event registration form until they close or you are ready to move them over, but the existing event registration form will be renamed to Event Registration Form (Classic) with the new form taking the coveted Event Registration Form part name. We do plan on remove the Event Classic form later in late 2017/early 2018 so start your planning now!

Those of you who have been following our BBIS roadmap presentations have heard of our overall events plan for 2016 and 2017 (and if you haven't, sign up for our Bi-Annual BBIS Roadmap Update on December 1!)  SP11 is the first release of our events plan. This form has a brand new user interface and incorporates features representing over 250 votes in the Ideas Portal, including four features that I'd like to highlight:
  1. First class event preference support
Our existing event registration form has always supported Participant Attributes. 46 of you voted in the Ideas Portal asking for us to also support Event Preferences. With SP11, you will be able to add both Participant Attributes and Event Preferences to your form and display them in your desired order. The screenshot below denotes the part configuration; note that the T-shirt and Food fields are Preferences and the Test fields are Attributes. You can drag and drop these to order them in the wy that most makes sense to your registrants.

  2. Organization registration capabilities
Another addition to the form that came directly from customer feedback (51 Ideas votes!) is the added ability for organizations to register. In the previous form, only constituents could register, not organizations. WIth the new form in SP11, organizations will be able to register for an event. (Guests will still have to be constituents.)

  3. Ability to define fields and field requirements for primary registrants and guests separately
As shown in the Preferences screenshot above, we also heard feedback that sometimes you want to collect more information for primary registrants than for guests (25 votes!) To solve this problem, we added configuration options to determine what fields you want registrants to fill out and require, and separately, what fields you want available to guests. This allows you to minimize the field entry when it makes sense to do so.
  4. Pricing options by date/time
Gone are the days that in order to offer early or late-bird pricing, you had to either manually go in and change your pricing options on the form or create multiple versions of the event registration form part so you could turn them on or off automatically. With the new form, you can set start and end date and times for each pricing option so your form will automatically show the correct pricing options no matter if your registrants come to the form early, late or right on time.

In addition, our new form has better guest management, a capacity countdown timer, the ability to recaption all fields, and much, much more! And don't forget, this is just the beginning!  Enhancements coming in 2017 service packs will include enhanced usability for multiple event or multi-day forms like reunions or conferences and more CRM integration such as package support and the ability to split batches into event, constituent and revenue batches just to name a few!
