Organization Eligiblity: More than just 501(c)(3)?

Published
Every employee giving program is unique. When managing an employee giving program you have to determine the critieria for your program such as:
  • Will you offer a company match?
  • Which employees are eligible?
  • What types of organizations will you match?

Organization eligibility has evolved in the past few years from the traditional ‘United Way’ model to more inclusive and expansive programs that allow donations to all (or at least most) 501(c)(3) organizations. Recently organization eligibility has expanded beyond 501(c)(3) organizations to include additional charitable organizations, such as public schools. Expanding the organizations your employees can give to can increase their engagement as they are able to give to the organizations that they are most passionate about.

With our recent release, AngelPoints now supports the ability for you to allow employees to give to K-12 Public schools in addition to 501(c)(3) organizations. This is made possible through a partnership between the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES) and Guidestar. Guidestar has integrated with the NCES database of K-12 public schools and our partner, Network For Good, is able to distribute funds to those schools.
