The blueprint to using Blueprint

I loved building things as a child. My medium of choice included Legos, Lincoln Logs, and even good old-fashioned sticks from the woods behind my house. I would create great things like foot-high buildings I’d seen in magazines, and tiny dioramas of movie scenes I enjoyed.
This desire to build initially led me to want to become an architect. Getting paid to come up with a design and see it actually get built? In real life? SIGN ME UP.
In high school, I got the chance to take a technical drawing class. It wasn’t a very popular course, but I was ecstatic. I bought a bunch of drafting tools: drafting pencils, metal rulers (in the metric system for some reason), adjustable triangles, and the ultimate architecture tool—the T-square.
I enjoyed my time in the class, but it soon became clear that my enthusiasm could only get me so far.
Turns out there is a lot of math and something called “making something that can actually exist in reality”. I don’t know, it all sounded a little like sorcery to me. These were certainly not things I considered much with my Lego constructions.
Despite flaming out of architecture, I still enjoy building and customizing things.
