About Jessica:

Tell us about your family (fur babies count!) "I'm lucky enough to be married to my best-friend. Together, my husband and I are parents to two beautiful girls and have another (girl!) on the way! We also love our three fish, two cats, and boisterous dog (and a partridge in a pear tree...). Family means the world to me - whether near or far, we always find time to connect."

Where do you live? "Valencia, California."

What do you like to do for fun? "For fun, I enjoy going to movies, taking road trips, going wine-tasting, or getting lost in a good book. My husband and I are travel and adventure seekers so there's always something that is "in the works" - whether it's a weekend trip to Vegas, taking our kids to practice, planning our next cruise, visiting Disneyland, going to Dodger games, or skydiving in the desert!"
What’s a life achievement you are particularly proud of? "I'm proud to have met some wonderful friends and mentors along my educational path. I was blessed to have completed my graduate studies at Harvard University and have maintained some meaningful relationships with colleagues from around the world."

What’s one memory that always makes you smile? "My wedding! We are celebrating our 7 year anniversary this month and I still cherish the memories that were made that day."

What is one interesting fact about yourself most people don't know? "I have double-jointed thumbs. Chalk that up to "stupid human tricks!"

Tell us about your organization: "Milken Community Schools is the largest Jewish community day school in North America. As a grade 7 - 12 independent college-preparatory institution, Milken is a place of rigorous academic preparation and intellectual inquiry: a place of profound and transformative experiences, with learning, spiritual practice, and ethical practice at the foundation of those experiences.

Milken's core programs drive a demanding and fulfilling academic curriculum. Our specialized institutes and centers, ranging from architecture and design to science and technology and advanced Jewish studies, in concert with advanced placement courses and a full array of performing arts, visual arts, and language electives provide our students with the finest private, independent school experiences infused with the best of Jewish education.

Students at Milken learn that their education is not only an avenue to achieve their personal goals but also a place to develop a strong sense of responsibility for family, community, country, and the world. Our school strives to model not the world as it is, but the world as it should be."

What’s a typical day like for you? "Every day is an adventure! I wear a few hats around campus, but my main focus is in admission. From the early morning interviews to the late night fairs and programs, my days can be long (but are very rewarding!). I have a supportive administrative team and an awesome bunch of loves that welcome me home each day - who could ask for more?"

What’s the best part of your job? "The BEST part of my job is the interaction with our students and families. I love hearing their stories and learning about our student's passions. Being able to work closely with these students in their personal journey is very rewarding.

What advice would you give someone starting out in the non-profit field? "Non-profits are easy to rally behind because they all work for good causes. I would say that one would need to find those things that are close to the heart - working for something you love doesn't feel like a 'job,' if it's truly something you believe in. At the same time, I would stress the importance of balance between personal and professional life."

What do you love about the Blackbaud Community? "I love the chance to connect with others in our industry! It's great to bounce ideas and best practice solutions off one another, as well as help others within the community."
Finally.. if you were a sandwich, what kind of sandwhich would you be? "I'd say I'm a meatball sandwich: soft and warm on the outside, but hearty and firm on the inside; with a bit of spicy sauciness and plenty of "cheesy" to top it off!"
