About Eileen:

Tell us about your family (fur babies count!) "Our family is amazing. Brian, my husband and I have been married for over eighteen years. We have amazing  parents, brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins and two great nephews. At the end of the day, we love to have a nice dinner together and play with our adorable dog, Cali."

Where do you live? "NY & CA (in my heart)"

What do you like to do for fun? "In my spare time I love to read, cook, listend to music, watch movies, and take walks with our dog Cali. More important is spending quality time with family and friends." (Read more about Eileen from her TA Community profile HERE)

What’s a life achievement you are particularly proud of? "I am proud to say that my parents are married for 55 years. That is their life achievement and it is a blessing to all four of their children, six grandchildren and three granddogs, and one great granddog. My husband and I have followed their example and have been married for over eighteen years."

What’s one memory that always makes you smile? "My niece reading the book "Have You Seen My Cat" by Eric Carle over and over on a car ride home from the local library."

What is one interesting fact about yourself most people don't know? "I took a class to get my motorcycle license. If I could, I would have a Harley!"

Tell us about your organization: "'Doing The Most Good.'" In these four words, our mission - to feed, to clothe, to comfort, to care. To rebuild broken homes and broken lives. By walking with the addicted, we can lead them to recovery. In fighting hunger and poverty, we can feed and nurture the spirit. And, in living and sharing the Christian Gospel by meeting tangible needs, we give the world a lasting display of the love behind our beliefs.

The Salvation Army operates 7,546 centers in communities across the United States. These include food distribution, disaster relief, rehabilitation centers, anti-human trafficking efforts, and a wealth of children's programs. Our work is funded through kettle donations, corporate contributions, and the sale of goods donated to our Salvation Army Family Stores. Eighty-two cents of every dollar we spend supports our various missions across the country. We are a tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organization, and contributions are deductible for Federal Income Tax Purposes to the extent permitted under Section 170(b)(2) for corporations.

Our mission: The Salvation Army, an international movement, is an evangelical part of the universal Christian Church. Its message is based on the Bible. Its ministry is motivated by the love of God. Its mission is to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination."

What’s a typical day like for you? "My typical day is working with all aspects of development research operations including writing research reports, working with data and as a database manager. I also train and support our major gift and planned giving staff members."

What’s the best part of your job? "Researching information for our frontline fundraisers provides me with the satisfaction of working with them to make stronger and better connections with our donors. The money raised by our fundraisers support the wonderful programs of The Salvation Army. What an inspiration to know we are all working together so that the gift from a donor will be ‘Doing the Most Good’ in serving people in all our communities locally and worldwide."

What advice would you give someone starting out in the non-profit field?
  • Become an APRA member
  • Ask questions
  • Take all the free training you can on a regular basis Communicate with your team/fundraisers and continue to build those relationships. Research tools are great, but relationships are an invaluable resource.

What do you love about the Blackbaud Community? "The opportunity to network with others that also use RP. The overall community experience is an excellent way to exchange ideas, information and Q&A among other users. The challenges are also a great way to bring the online community experience to life."
Finally, if you were a sandwich - what kind of sandwich would you be?: "Thanksgiving sub, just because they are amazing!"
