Tell us about your family (fur babies count!) "I have a very blended family!   I grew up in the US, but my husband grew up in the Netherlands and Dutch is his native langauage.   Therefore all my relatives are Dutch!   Except my step-children who were born on the island of St. Marteen and moved to the US at a young age.  I've lived in the same town all my life, as did my Mom, Dad, brothers, cousins, etc. etc. and I went to a local university.  But my husband lived on the island of Aruba during grade-school (Dutch Territory), in Paupau New Guinea (Father was on an assignment) and then back to the Netherlands for college, then on to St. Marteen after graduating medical school.   I'm a 'home-town girl', my husband says he is a 'citizen of the world.'    We celebrate our diversity!"

Where do you live?
"Charleston, West Virginia."

What do you like to do for fun? "I am an avid runner.   I have competed in many 5k's, half marathons, and one marathon - the New York City Marathon.   My husband and I have a second home in the Turks and Caicos Islands (in the Caribbean) and love to go there to relax. "

What’s a life achievement you are particularly proud of? "I have been in my role as President of the CAMC Foundation for 10 years.   In 2015, we completed the first ever major capital campaign for our foundation which has been in existence since 1976.   We raised $15 milllion for a new freestanding, 100,000 square foot, outpatient cancer center. The center is open and seeing patients! Leading the successful campaign for the new cancer center is my most proud achievement."

What’s one memory that always makes you smile? "Any family vacation from my childhood.   My parents sure made family vacations fun!"

What is one interesting fact about yourself most people don't know? "I'm quite handy.   Very good at fixing household things."

Tell us about your organization "The CAMC Foundation is the fundraising arm of the Charleston Area Medical Center (CAMC) in Charleston, WV.   We have been in existence since 1976 and raise funds for many, many programs and services within our health system."

What’s a typical day like for you? "Early to work, by 7:15am.....coffee, newspaper, then leading my great team!"

What’s the best part of your job? "Even after 10 years of fundraising, I still get extremely excited when our efforts payoff, donations come in the door, and projects get completed because of our fundraising."

What advice would you give someone starting out in the non-profit field? "Grow some thick skin, smile, and believe in what you are doing."

What do you love about the Blackbaud Community? "I'm just getting more involved in the Blackbuad Community and looking forward to the exchanging of ideas."
Finally, if you were a sandwich, what kind of sandwich would you be? "I would be a veggie burger on whole wheat with spinach, tomatoes, and no cheese! (A for healthy!)"
