Tell us about your family (fur babies count!): "My family consists of my two cats Midnight and Tabby, and about 150 stuffed animals!"

Where do you live? "Bronx, NY."

What do you like to do for fun? "I am an avid reader, a writer of fanfiction, and an aspiring novelist.  I play video games on all my systems, all the way back to the Atari 2600!  Ialso cross-stitch, knit, and have recently gotten into those adult colouring books."

What’s a life achievement you are particularly proud of? "Graduating college was huge for me.  I entered college at 16 in 1991, but I floundered aimlessly for quite a while.  There was a time where I didn't think I would graduate because I didn't see the need to.  But in 2003 I went back to get my final credits and graduated in May with a BA in Creative Writing.  It was a very proud moment for me."
What’s one memory that always makes you smile? "Being at the Olympic Dude Ranch in upstate New York with my family.  I was a city kid through and through, but for those times I was up there I forgot all about the city.  I wish they were still in business."

What is one interesting fact about yourself most people don't know? "I collect stuffed animals.  I have over 150 of them."

What are three things on your bucket list? "Visiting all 50 states, finishing my novel, running a marathon."
Tell us about your organization: "Grace Church School is an independent school located in Manhattan's East Side.  We have two campuses and accept students JK-12."

What’s a typical day like for you? "Pull reports and queries for my boss, check for online information updates, prepare mailing lists, enter and acknowledge gifts, and anything that someone might want."

What’s the best part of your job? "Being part of a welcoming community and knowing that so much of what happens here relies on me."
What advice would you give someone starting out in the non-profit field? "Take courses in Raiser's Edge and/or Financial Edge.  Get your foot in the door with that knowledge.  When I started out, I was simply sat in front of the program and told if I could figure it out, I would stay."

What do you love about the Blackbaud Community? "We're all always so helpful and welcoming.  I have been a part of many online communities and there are always the bad eggs that ruin it for everyone.  Except here."
Finally, if you could have any theme song when you walked into a room, what would that song be? "My theme song?  That's easy enough.  "This is the Moment" from Jekyll and Hyde.  Because every moment is my moment and I strive to to grab onto each one and make the most of it."

Great Spotlight, enjoyed seeing all your pictures..
"Men who knit and the dogs who love them" has some of my favorite patterns.
I only have about 8 states left in my All 50 States journey.  Definitely a fantastic way to spend free time!   I hope I can get to Hawaii someday!
What is your novel about?
Great spotlight!
Hi Robert! Great member spotlight. Love "This is the Moment"!
Barb, I actually write for both from a large swath of genres.  It actually got me into writing in the frist place.  I was so dissatisfied with the ending of a book I read that my teacher challenged me to write my own ending.  Then challenged me to write my own material.
Fun to learn more about you Robert.  I'm a big reader, but I must admit fanfiction is probably my least favorite genre.  That's great that you love it though because I know it's very popular.  Do you write for children or adults?

A fellow cross stitcher!! :)
Heather, my wife and I are doing it together and we've only been married a little over a year.  The count stands at 5.  Long way to go, but it'll be worth it.
Robert, how close are you to your 50 states goal?
I love "This is the Moment" btw, Robert!
