Tell us about your family (fur babies count!) "I am recently married to my husband, Chris, who is an attorney. We are proud fur parents to our shepherd/chow mix, Peyton (yep, like Peyton Manning) and our formerly feral cat Robin (named after Robin Scherbatsky from our favorite show, How I Met Your Mother)."

Where do you live? "Knoxville, TN."

What do you like to do for fun? "I run, do wedding calligraphy, read, take our dog to the dog park, practice yoga, and explore Knoxville's restaurant scene with my friends! We love a good margarita."

What’s a life achievement you are particularly proud of? "Running a marathon! I ran the Kiawah Island Marathon in 2014, and it was simultaneously the BEST and worst thing I have ever done, ha! Honestly, the hours upon hours of training was the most challenging part; but the gorgeous weather and views in Kiawah made it worthwhile! Highly recommend."
What’s one memory that always makes you smile? "Picking out our dog, Peyton - I saw him on the humane society's Facebook page on a Friday night, and made my then-boyfriend, now-husband get up super early on Saturday so we could be there RIGHT when the doors opened! There was a sweet little lady already waiting as well, and I was so scared she was going to beat me to this puppy... but then she went to the Kitten section and I got my pup!"

What is one interesting fact about yourself most people don't know? "I despise bananas. The smell, the taste, the texture... I choked down half of a banana during the marathon I ran, but haven't touched one since!"

What are three things on your bucket list? "Travel to Greece; foster animals for the Humane Society; serve on a nonprofit board."
Tell us about your organization "I work for the Webb School of Knoxville, in Tennessee. We are an extraordinary Pre K-12 independent school, and I have been here almost exactly one year. I am amazed by not only by our academic and athletic prowess, but also our school's dedication to creating extraordinary little humans... The students will hold doors, look you in the eye, and shake your hand."

What’s a typical day like for you? "I'm an early bird, so I'm usually at the office by 7-7:30am... with a large Yeti cup of coffee in tow. The mornings usually consist of various meetings and discussion with our small development staff, as well as knocking out smaller tasks. We eat lunch early, around 11 - to beat the student rush! The afternoon is usually saved for my heavy-hitting database tasks and gift entry. In the spring, my late afternoon takes place at our softball field, where I am an assistant coach!"

What’s the best part of your job? "Besides the little victories that every database administrator would relate to... the community at our school is incredible. Knoxville is a 'big small town' and Webb plays a big role in our local community!"
What advice would you give someone starting out in the non-profit field? "Absorb every bit of knowledge you can, about every aspect possible. There are SO many free/low-cost resources out there - books, webinars, etc. - that have helped me. Being in non-profit often requires you to wear many hats, so don't hesitate to learn about something that is not normally in your wheelhouse - you never know when you may have to step up and help with a different project!"

What do you love about the Blackbaud Community? "As someone new to Raiser's Edge and Blackbaud products, the Community has been incredibly valuable for opening my eyes to other perspectives! I love having the opportunity to connect with others about specific issues and questions. My director of development will even ask, "What does the Community have to say about [xyz topic]?"
Finally, if you were a sandwich, what kind of sandwich would you be? "I would be a grilled cheese sandwich - not always the bold person/choice, but consistently good and dependable! :)"

I found my pup online too! Nothing like matchmaking online with your fur-baby!
There really are a lot of free/low-cost tools for people!

Nice meeting you and getting a little of your background!  I LOVE TENNESSEE!! Looking to make a move in the near future, maybe Nashivlle area!  Maybe we'll run into each other!  Going to BBCON??
Great to learn more about you Brittany!  I am a little weird about bananas too.  I like to eat them raw (IF they're not under or over ripe), but I can't stand banana flavor in any other form. :)
Nice meeting you Brittany. Your school family sounds very similar to my work/school family here at SGCS in Austin. We are Pre-K 3 through 8th grade. The best job I ever had!! Feeling so blessed.
Great bio! Peyton is adorable! I have 3 cats rescued as wee kittens from a feral mother.
Peyton is adorable! Who doesn't love a great rescue story? Thanks for sharing the photo and introducing yourself.
Nice to get to know you more Brittany!  LOVE the photo of Peyton...the angle makes it look like he has teeny tiny paws  ;-)
I can't believe you don't like Bananas! LOL
