Tell us about your family (fur babies count!) "My family is crazy, but I love them that way.  My husband, Adam, and I have been married for ten years and we have two beautiful girls.  Addy is 6 and does not apologize for who she is.  She is smart, independent, and loves living in the mountains (catching frogs and getting muddy).  Alaina is 3 and is all things girly.  She loves to twirl and sparkle.  We make a pretty fun team who do ministry and life together."

Where do you live? "Hume Lake, California."

What do you like to do for fun? "I love to bake (there is an awesome meme out there that says "I bake so I don't punch people", it's pretty much my life motto).  I am a huge baseball and football fan (Go Angels and NY Giants!).  I love everything about travel, researching it, doing it, reading about it, etc.  I also love to hike and explore this awesome National Park that I get the privilege of living in."

What’s a life achievement you are particularly proud of: "Getting married was a huge life achievement for me as I thought I was not ever going to be brave enough to do it.  But my real life achievement that i'm proud of was being the first in both sides of my family to graduate college."
What’s one memory that always makes you smile?: "Hands down, any memory with my dad.  Most recently the moments he spent with my kids."

What is one interesting fact about yourself most people don't know? "I was a Polynesian dancer for 15 years and made it to the professional level where I got paid to do shows in all my white skin, blonde hair style."

What are three things on your bucket list? "Dance with a tribe in Africa, go to Ireland and explore, and have coffee with Jim Abbott."
Tell us about your organization: "Hume Lake Christian Camps is a year round camp that reaches youth and adults with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  We desire that every person who comes in contact with this ministry (whether here at Hume Lake or any of our other camps in New England, San Diego, Hawaii, and Internationally) will accept Jesus Christ as their personal savior; grow in their faith and christian character development; establish the priorities of prayer, bible study, and Christian fellowship while associating with a local church; devote their lives in service to our Lord Jesus at home and abroad.  We do this by providing camps and retreats for all ages.  Summer is our busiest time of year when we have about 1,800 students per week for ten weeks of summer."

What’s a typical day like for you?: "Get up, walk the lake with a friend, go home, shower, get the girls up and ready, drop them off at childcare, head to work, enter data, manage schedules, talk to donors, home for lunch, back to work to do more the same, pick up the kids, go home, and enjoy a plethora of activities."

What’s the best part of your job? "I love making others look good by managing their calendars, preparing their docs, etc.  I'm one of the weird people who love to file and keep order in an office so that others can be out chatting people up."
What advice would you give someone starting out in the non-profit field? "Non-profit is not for everyone.  You need to love what you do and stand behind the non-profit that you work for.  It means a lot of work that you don't necessarily get paid for but the mission and vision is worth it.  If it's just a job for a non-profit that you can't stand behind, you might as well quit while you're ahead cuz the rest of your days will be miserable.  But if you believe in the mission the best days are ahead."

What do you love about the Blackbaud Community? "Questions are answered quickly by people who actually know the software.  It's a place to belong in the work world.  People from all different backgrounds, all different expertises, all using the same software helping each other out.  It's awesome."
Finally, if you could have any theme song when you walked into a room, what would that song be? "My theme song, for a few years at least has been 'Girl on Fire' by Alicia Keys.  Mostly because I'm either so annoyed I'll burn you if you stand in my way or I'm on a roll with what I'm doing and it's going great!."

Thanks for sharing!  I love the mission of your organization and your dedication in standing behind that mission!
Some of my favorite memories are from being on staff at a summer camp. Long days, campfires, sitting around the dining hall tables with friends... I am a firm believer that everyone should experience this at least once! Thanks for sharing, Aubrie.
What a great spotlight! You really jump off the page at us, and it's wonderful. I hope you get to dance with a tribe in Africa and go exploring in Ireland.  Blessings!
